Beginning Weaving
 
Beginning Weaving is designed to introduce you to weaving.  A project
will be planned, a warp made, loom dressed and then you will weave an item using my floor looms that you can enjoy.  
 
Fee:  $85.00 plus $20.00 materials fee - includes use of a floor loom.
Summer & Winter
 
Looking for a weaving technique that is versatile and lends itself to traditional
or contemporary designs?  This is a great class for you!  We will explore the
drafting using a profile draft and design your own piece which will be woven
in class.  The effect of different treading will be explored with this piece.
 
Fee:  $100.00 plus your materials for the project.  Loom provided.
Weaving II
 
In Weaving II, you will be guided in creating your own project.  A repeat of
the warping process and dressing the loom will be done.  Drafting will be
covered as well as a variety of finishing techniques.  
 
Fee:  $95.00 plus materials fee - includes use of a floor loom.
Beginning Spinning
 
This is a class for those of you who have never tried spinning but always wanted to.  It is taught by Alice Meitl, our award winning,  experienced and knowledgeable spinner.  This is a 2 session class with the first session devoted to spinning on a wheel with roving.  The second session will be on plying and learning what fibers are best for different projects.
 
Fee:  $60.00 plus $5.00 materials fee.
Weaving Rag Rugs
 
Explore the fun with rag rugs!  Learn about cutting the strips, designing, calculating yardage and finishing ideas.  Techniques apply to 2, 4 or more shafts.  Participants with provide 5-6 yards of fabric in their own color choices.  Fabric is to be washed and ironed prior to 2nd class time.  This class is for weavers with prior experience in winding a warp and dressing the loom.
 
Fee:  $100.00 - includes warp.  You provide the rags.
Overshot
 
An adventure in patterns with two shuttles.  This class discusses reading a pattern, altering a pattern draft, using two shuttles for Overshot- a traditional coverlet technique.  A project will be planned and woven.
 
Fee:  $100.00 plus your materials for the project.  Loom provided.
Spinning Novelty Yarn
 
Come and join us to create three designer yarns, cabled, slub and Navajo plied yarn.  This is a 2 session class taught by Alice Meitl with the first session concentrating on the slub and cabled yarn.  The second session covers the Navajo plying.  Requirement for this class is the ability to spin.  If supplying your own wheel please bring 3 empty bobbins.   
 
Fee:  $60.00 plus $5.00 materials fee.
Twills
 
We will explore the differences in various twills such as straight, point, and advancing as well as their uses.  We will draft a twill and weave a scarf.  
 
Fee:  $100.00 plus your materials for the project. Loom provided.
Second Level Knitters Loom & Rigid Heddle Loom
 
This class picks up from a beginners class. Learn how to do a table runner or placemats with various lace techniques.
 
Fee:  $60.00 plus $15.00 materials fee.  Day and evening times.
Warp Painting
 
Design your own warp using Procion dyes on tencel or cotton.  Learn the tricks from experienced dyer and designer Carrie May of 'Color Inspirations'. 
This is a 1 session class of 4 hours.  Limited to a number of six (6) people in class.
 
Fee:  $75.00 - Includes two warps and dyes.
Dyeing Wool with Food Safe Dyes 
 
Create your own 'custom' yarns using food safe dyes & microwave on wool fiber for spinning & felting or sock blanks for knitting.  This is a 1 session class of 3 hours taught by experienced spinner and knitter Alice Meitl.     
 
Fee:  $55.00 plus $18.00 materials fee.
Inkle Weaving for Young Weavers
 
An introductory class for young people in making a useful item such as a belt, guitar strap, handbag or cell phone case.  Class includes all materials and the use of an Inkle loom.  Taught by guest instructor Gail Kincaid, an experienced Inkle Weaving teacher.     
 
Fee:  $40.00
Rug in a Day
 
Always wanted to weave a rug but don't know how?  This class is for you!  No experience needed.  Looms will be set up and ready for you to weave in several color choices.  You bring your rags and I will provide the rest.      
 
Fee:  $50.00
Introduction to Felting
 
Let's make a handbag!  In this class you will be introduced to needle felting and wet felting, and have a lovely handbag to remember the experience.  Spinner and fiber artist Kelly Dossett is the guest instructor for this special class.  No experience needed.       
 
Fee:  $40.00 plus $10.00 materials fee.
Collapse Scarf
 
Make a scarf in the popular "collapse weave."  This is a two session class with prewound warps ready for you to use!     
 
Fee:  $100.00 plus your materials for the project.
Let's Clean Fleece
 
This class is designed to take the dread out of washing a raw fleece.  We will explore using your washing machine, bath tub / basin, and a simmering bath to clean your fleece.  Also covered in this workshop will be what you need to know when purchasing a fleece, what questions to ask, and soak versus soap.  Materials fee to include:  1 small bottle of scour, Lingerie Bag & washed fleece samoles.        
 
Fee:  $50.00   Material fee to be determined.
Double Weave
 
Need to weave a wider piece of cloth?  How does winding a double
width warp differ from a regular warp?  In this class we will explore double
width cloth, double layers of cloth, tubular weave, stuffed tubes and pick
up.         
 
Fee:  $125.00 plus materials.

Easy Jacket Class
 
Want to make a jacket but don't sew?  This is a fun project with beautiful
yarns that weave up quickly.  Minimal sewing which is mostly by hand.
This is a 3 day class which will keep you busy.  Two consecutive days for
designing and weaving, and the following day (the following week) for
construction of the jacket.
 
Fee:  $150.00 plus materials.

A class designed for the NEW knitter or those needing a refresher on basic skills.  At the end of the class you will be ready to start your own project, and we will help you select supplies to get started.  Needles, practice yarn, and pattern provided.  Instructor Nora Hitch, an experienced knitter and a new member of the Arcadia Arts Initiative!      
 
Fee:  $35.00
Beginning Knitting 
* To register, a deposit of one half the class fee is due at the time of registration to secure your place in the class.  These deposits are refundable if
   cancellations are made more than 14 days prior to class.
 
* To register for a class with a visiting instructor:  A deposit of one half the class fee is due at the time of registration.  In case of cancellations, full refunds
   will be given if cancellation is done 30 days prior to class.  Half the fee will be returned if cancellations are made 15 days in advance.  No refunds if the
